Kickstarter roundup for the week of May 5th to May 12th

What is it called;
The Remaining

What is it about;
It’s a survival game which according to the reward tiers, is supposed to be out by October of this year despite a video that seems to be in a very early alpha stage.

What are the tiers;
Three tiers; $10 gets you a tshirt, $15 gets you the game and all DLC, and $100 gets you Early Access. Funding ends June 10th, 2017.

What are my thoughts;
While its hard to be harsh about someones pet project, this looks like a hard pass as nothing in the description or video hints at the game being anything other than yet another early access survival title, IF it completes funcing, which I have doubts of.

What is it called;
Dreamkeepers SKIRMISH – Shadow Wars of Anduruna

What is it about;
It’s a two player noncollectible card game based on the Dreamkeepers indie comic where you choose two characters and use those characters decks combined, then play cards in three deployment zones for various effects.

What are the tiers;
A fairly wide range of tiers, from $2 to $1,250. There’s a big gap between $250 and $1250 due to reward tiers being filled already, despite the kickstarter having only launched May 11. The game is currently funded, with the kickstarter campaign ending June 10th, 2017.

What are my thoughts;
The game looks solid and the reward tiers look fair and priced well. The game itself seems tactical and fun from the video. They expect to have expansions at a later date, and the company has completed three previous kickstarters successfully.

What is it called;
CHANGE – A Homeless Survival Game

What is it about;
“If you became homeless… what would you do?” The game is about homelessness, inspired by the developers own struggles during the making of their first game. The elements in the game – the people you meet, events, etc. are randomly generated according to the developers, who also claim to have done their research and won’t be falling to stereotypes. It has a demo on the kickstarter page.

What are the tiers;
Generous. Prices are in pounds, and range from £1 to £50, with rewards going from your name in the credits, multiple copies, and at the highest tier getting to name a street sign. The goal is also modest, at £3,000 by June 2nd, 2017.

What are my thoughts;
This looks good. It’s a kickstarter I’m personally keeping an eye on and the developers seem very down to earth and relatable. The tiers are affordable and make sense. This seems to be a project the creators are very much personally invested in rather than simply a quick crowdfunded cash grab. They’ve completed one successful kickstarter for the game Poncho, which won awards.

What is it called;
HexaMon – monster matching madness – The Video Game

What is it about;
A matching game based on the mobile game CellConnect where you match various colored monsters. It has a demo on the kickstarter page

What are the tiers;
A lot. Tiers start from €1 to €500, many of which let you name the families of monsters. Their goal is to raise €2,000 by June 10th, 2017.

What are my thoughts;
If you really enjoy mobile games or CellConnect in particular you might be more enthused than I am, but currently it seems to be just yet another mobile port to PC. This is the companies first kickstarter.

What is it called;
UnityWars

What is it about;
A tactical turn based strategy game for PC and mobile that looks (currently) like a very unpolished basic game not unlike Advance Wars. There is a link to a demo on the kickstarter page.

What are the tiers;
They range from £1 to £12, buit most seem to have very small differences. They hope to earn £1,000. by June 10th, 2017.

What are my thoughts;
It looks to me to be a very uninspired clone of Advance Wars if the Advance Wars was released early in the lifespan of the SNES. This is the developers first kickstarter.

What is it called;
Wood Haven

What is it about;
It looks to be a co-op walking simulator where you explore a potentially haunted asylum. The game creator claims to have made it very replayable by randomizing items, events, and tasks within the game.

What are the tiers;
Not bad at all. You can get in the credits for $5 and the game for $10, then a few multiple copy tiers and at $50 you get to create a patient and the creator will build a room in the asylum for you. They hope to raise $3,000 by June 10th.

What are my thoughts;
If the creator can live up to the hype he has for his game and the co-op works as advertised, it looks like it might be decent. I’m sort of biased as I like walking sims and horror games, but I hope this kickstarter does well.

What is it called;
RONE: Races of New Era (2nd Edition) + New Forces Expansion

What is it about;
It’s a strategic noncollectible card game for 2 to 4 players. Games are supposed to last between 45 minutes and an hour, and claims to be very balanced.

What are the tiers;
Tiers are from $1 to $295 and have rewards that range froim only expansion or core, to both, and your face as an ingame portrait at $295. They hope to raise $18,000 by June 10th.

What are my thoughts;
I’m not massively into super-complicated card games and while I don’t have a lot to judge it by, the cards look very complicated. With this being the second edition I assume the first was at least mildly successful though this is the creator’s first kickstarter.
